Great moments in history for golf women

When it comes to sports you cannot often hear about successful women, because it seems like people are more interested in sportsmen, than in sportswomen.
Still it doesn’t mean that women didn’t make history and now we will write about some great moments in history for women in golf.
We will start from the 1550s when Marry Queen of Scotland had built a golf course. She decided to build the golf course at the place called St. Andrews. Some experts say that this place is the true origin of this sport.

Marry then had chosen the name “caddie”, because she thought that idea of someone assisting you with golf clubs was very useful.
So she decided to bring golf from France to Scotland, which many fans of golf still consider to be a great idea.

Then in 1867, first organization is created, and it was an organization for women’s golf. It also happened at St. Andrews where “The Ladies Club” was formed.
Like we said it was the first organization for women who wanted to play golf and soon you could see more clubs and organizing groups being formed.
Then 65 years ago, in 1950, LPGA which is “The Ladies Professional Golf Association” was formed.

We can thank Patty Berg, Babe Didrickson-Zaharias and Louise Suggs because they have established golf as a professional sport when it comes to women.
Since we are talking about these amazing women, we mustn’t forget to mention Babe’s success, because she was the only woman who qualified for a golf tournament for men.
