Mickelson Defend Rory McIlroy’s Decision To Play Soccer

Over the past few days there have been there have been lots of talk surrounding Rory McIlroy and what he has been doing exactly. Just in case yu are in the dark, here is small brief. While taking a short break from golf, Rory McIlroy decided that it was a great idea to play football with some of his friend. The gesture in itself is nt bad but due to the fact that he chose to play football, Rory McIlroy ended up hurting his leg and it wasn’t just a small injury, Rory McIlroy ended up rupturing his ligament in his left ankle. 

With that, many people have criticized the decision by Rory McIlroy to play soccer given the fact that it's not something that he usually do. With all the criticism that has fallen on Rory McIlroy, there is one person who has come out and publicly defended Rory McIlroy and that is Phil Mickelson. Mickelson did find himself in such a situation back in 1994 and thus if there was someone who knows what Rory McIlroy is going through them it must be him. Mickelson ended up snapping his femur in half after falling while he was skiing in Arizona, that particular injury ended up forcing him to miss out on the masters. Here is what Mickelson said regarding Rory McIlroy’s injury. 

“Like I said then, you cannot live your life in fear,” Mickelson said while at the Scottish Open. “You have to enjoy the moment and I don’t feel as if McIlroy did anything wrong by playing soccer. He was simply playing around and sometimes accidents do tend to happen.”
